When I play video games with guys, it always seems like a whole new experience for them. It does not matter if they have seen what the girl looks like or even the age. As soon as they find out the person they are playing with is a girl, the environment changes. For example, I was playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and was top player while playing Capture The Flag. A clan leader from some other clan started cursing at me because I had my mic plugged in but was not using it. I got tired of his pointless babble and stated I was a girl and that I was not using my mic because I had no need to. The second he found out I was a girl, he began apologizing, and his clan started laughing at him because he asked if I would join a clan competition against them.

I told him I would because I am a clan leader too, and he had me join a private match with him and his clan. It was me versus them, quite unfair really. I suppose he thought I was not going to be that good, but I would think having 30 kills and 0 deaths would be proof enough that I would be more than qualified to go up against them. We had our little battle, and of course, I won with ease because they had a strategy of all of them sticking together in the same area. All I had to do was throw a grenade to kill all of them or simply spray the area with bullets for easy kills. After the battle was over, the clan leader returned to his ways of cursing and being angry because he and his clan lost to a girl. I was kicked out of the lobby and one of his clan members sent me a friend request asking to be in my clan because they quit his.

That was only one example of how the environment changes for guys. I have played other online games such as Borderlands, and the guys would say something like “gasp! It’s a girl!” I understand that there are only 1%-2% of girls that play video games, but why does the environment always change when we play video games?   4. I’ve noticed the same thing when i’m playing MW3..when a girl is playing it’s different then when it’s just “the guys”….and then again I’ve played with girls that talk as much trash as the guys do

  5. i have played with many girl/ ladies… i actually like having a woman on my squad, cause it throws a lot of people off… there are time that all i run is a clan of the opposite sex… i just think that is funny that men underestimate the skills of a woman…. for all those who want to add me… i am a hardcore kill confirmed person and ranked in the top 9000 and climbing… i am Comander_KRITTER…. and i will run with the best of them

  6. absolutely nothing. i find it cool and sometimes sexy, but other than that cuddos too her. the only time i hav a problem is if the girl is whiny and no even decent as a player

  10. i discovered that naming my avatar old woman and customising it to a grey haired woman in any game that lets me customise, causes teenage boys to be absoultely sure i’m a teenage boy pulling their leg.

  13. Tch. Means nothing at frickin all! Ive played with plenty girls on CoD I wouldnt even think once that they could even be bad! They actually kick some damn ass! I chat, joke, and curse with all the ones I know they just like anybody else to me.

    But uh I believe maybe its because its like having a girl playing a game is rarity like seeng a meteor! lol 

    Truly though maybe its just that the so much testosterone when playing online that when a girl comes “pshhhh” it  gets neutralized! Everyone starts being nice to each other….especially to you in the hopes that they can chat and then have a girlfriend that plays games!

    All my opinion though.

  14.  The reaction makes sense. Gaming is a male dominated activity. Males are naturally into more competitive activities and when a girl enters the arena of the activity that don’t take them seriously or are surprised that they are beaten. Just like in sports when you’re facing a girl you go easy on them or even let them win (like a girlfriend) Some are pleasantly surprised to find a girl with a competitive edge(I myself and alot of guys find a competitive/athletic girl sexy)  Others will be angry/take it to heart that a girl could beat them in a thing they’ve spent their whole lives doing. Anyone else agree?

  18. Really I thinks it’s awesome , we need more girls and women who play seriously. Not just gamer’s but hardcore gamer’s one’s who can come into a room and own it!  Not only does it help grow are community as a whole, but it’s stops this gender stereotyping. Lady’s and girl’s I say game on, Eat.. Sleep.. Game!

  19. I think it is because for the most part guys who plays video games to a large extent (hardcore gamers) have no real interaction with the opposite sex. I think it is because of this and the fact that gaming is a dominantly male activity that female gamers are not taken seriously and are seen as more sex objects by those who think like this than anything else. I personally dont have a problem with it and I can say sometimes I am more attracted to my girlfriend when she manages to beat me in a game. I think that female gamers are just another gamer to kill. I dont go easier and dont get upset if I am beaten by one.

  20. lol well guys need to take chil when girls pop up on online game play; its not like the end of the world or anything. All my PSN friends are both guys and girls; i have 40 friends total to account as of now. PS: Be-care who you add on the PSN account to chat with, play games with and ect okay. Been PSN user for 7 years now & i added some weird people who was so damn weird. Anyway i delete them the sec i found their are crazy weird or just some ect whatever.  

  21. Hello I’m a girl and I play COD Black Ops & MW3, I totally agree with you becouse the guys are not used to play with girls who may be are better than them and beat them easily. I like to play S & D although for matters of study I only play on weekends, I think the guys get frustrated easily and curse you too much even if your clan tag saids GIRL, I usually don’t belong to any clan, I play by myself or with friends and like you I have my mic on mute I don’t think I need to be with the blah blah blah and start cursing each player who is better than me. I think the guys have lost that respect for girls and that there are only few guys who actually recognize with dignity that a girl plays better than them. :)

      very simple explanation to it:most men are stuck in the middle ages and forget that women are equal to mendue to that fact their mind can’t cope with the idea of a girl being better than them
      my girlfriend is also a gamer and also a lot better with games I lack the patience for
      I’m a guy and I don’t give a damn if you’re a girl or a guy, if I can blow you up in a game of MW3, I’ll do it :D

I agree with you, that’s true I don’t care who I play against at least I like a player who plays on my lvl, I like an interesting game in wich the ppl shut the f** up and let the blah blah blah and start playing…. :) It don’t matter who I’m playing against… boy, girl, alien….   22. I’m a guy, so lets just start off there. After playing on the sony network for several years now I have run into about 14 girl gamers with mics. considering the amount of players a person can run into during a day of gaming, that’s quite a small ratio from guys with mics to girls with mics. So when your asking people why they think that its strange that men think that girls don’t play video games its because alot of them don’t own mics or one other thing you mentioned yourself, men don’t like to be beaten by a girl. unspoken rule that has been set in stone for generations mind you. Now im not saying that girls gamers are bad, in fact most of the ones ive seen can easily kick a guys ass any day of the week. A girl gamer is usually more polite as well. now i can’t give a real ratio because most gamers simply don’t own a mic, or the voice changers really can confuse a person( 5 year olds with a higher pitch than justin beiber) so the truth of the matter can’t really be determined. But, it is possible to say one thing: when the old sang chanted by males ,” a women’s place is in the kitchen”, is suddenly,” HOLY S#!T, I just got my @$$ handed to me by a girl”, people don’t want to own up to this fact =). may there be more girl gamers, nothing is stopping you.

  25. i normally take it as a normal game, cuz a lot of girl gamers have mics but dont turn them on or use them because 1 guys flip out, or 2 guys harrass them and call them non adolescent little boys.. for me its just a normal game and i dont go easy on them i just play and then after talk a lil smack not because they are a girl because it makes the game fun if you beat someone and talk smack cuz it makes it a more competitive game but still fun if you dont carry it overboard

  29. Well… here on Venezuela its very rare see play or see and even hear a girl playing any kind of game… of course it would be a new experience for me see a girl killing me all the time playing Call of Duty Black Ops or smashing my rides on Need for Speed The Run…

    Im dare to said that i would like to play with any girl any game… if they are smart, i will learn with them on a very funny way… you know what its hard to see here??? A girl holding a PS3 controller on her hands, if you kill me o crash my car… I WILL HAPPY DOING IT… hehehehe.

  31. im a  BF3 player and when i realize theres a girl in the lobby i just tell my clan to kick her ass as hard as any other person in the lobby. Most gamer girls hate when u go easy on them.

  32. I agree with what I’m seeing most of the other males post. ALOT of guys are not happy to get beat by a female. But kick ‘em in the nards and don’t bother with the names they don’t matter (other than a kill count). On the ever all we need more female games, and to be honest among my friends female gamers are found to be quite sexy. They’re usually smart, and have good personalities so they can actually hold an inteligent conversation with us after owning us in game not be an air head and look at us stupidly when we talk about processor speeds or how many kills we got before we got killed.

  45. I’ve noticed this irregularity as well. I’m a bit abashed by the amount of people who’ve commented about unrelated points. Girls typically don’t wish for special treatment, just to play and not be bothered with gender-related remarks. I’m not saying that there aren’t girls that try to use their gender to sway a crowd, but, in my experience, they are few and far between. The immediate shift is usually why girls do not invest in mics or use them sparingly. They don’t want to be harassed. Frankly they shouldn’t have to have that worry, but looking at the comments section I see why they do.

  51. If I found out a woman like playing I wouldn’t care. As I’ve learned from childhood it doesn’t matter if you win or lose it’s how you play the game. Your not competing between each other as your competing against yourself to get better. I would love it and find it very sexy that a lady would play video games w/ me

Because most males on games are nerds and the thought of even talking to a woman is completely beyond them, I’m a gamer and I pride myself in saying I’m professional (CoD) but I also have real world experience with women, so if one joins, more power to you, it is a rare site and it is awesome to see, but its really nothing new, to me anyways.

  56. Bro, Im a gamer girl and I HATE it when guys think that I cant kick theyre ass! They say : “Oh let’s go easy on her hahahahaha” , but then, they get all butthurt when I beat them and they look like idiots.
